COLLECTION 1 DVD VOLUME 1: BEBE NEUWIRTH 4/84 New York Public Access TV. Rian interview Bebe at the Production Company where Rian ran into her while she was waiting for her bartender boyfriend to get off of work.  Rian was there to meet with George Rose hoping to arrange an interview (which he did eventually get, but it was more than a year later-see below).  He recognized Bebe from A Chorus Line, and he learned she was getting ready to do an Off-Broadway show called “The Road To Hollywood”, and since she was just starting her career, she was very anxious to do the interview.  Here Rian is 23 and Bebe is 24.  30 minutes. He was starring the Broadway revival of “Aren’t We All” at the time, so much of the interview is focused on that. 30 minutes. A

COLLECTION 1 DVD VOLUME 5: GWEN VERDON 1983 New York Public Access TV. Rian Keating was a Broadway fan and had a public access TV show in the early 1980’s.  He seems to be about 17 years old, but he’s actually 21.  He was lucky enough to score some interviews with some big names.  For this interview with Gwen (his first), he explains that he got the Manhattan phone directory and found the phone number listed for Nicole Fosse, and was surprised when Gwen Verdon answered.  When he explained what he wanted, Gwen politely declined but reconsidered when Rian told her that Spotlight! was an up and coming show in New York, similar to the Dick Cavett Show, and that if she agreed to do the show, she could talk about anything she wanted.  It was then she agreed to an interview, so she could discuss the psychological issues facing actors trying to balance family life.  When she showed up, she was surprised at how young he was, but still agreed to do the interview.  30 minutes. The Merv Griffin Show, "Totie Fields Memorial Episode"

Appearing more than 125 time on his show, Merv dedicates this memorial show to one of his favorite guests, Totie Fields, shortly after her death.  This is mostly a rebroadcast of an episode that featured Totie shortly after her surgery in October of 1977, to amputate her leg due to complications from diabetes and her first television appearance with a prosthetic leg.  She has lost some of her weight, but is as funny as ever.  Also appearing on the episode are the doctors that saved her life.  Sadly, shortly after this episode aired, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and she ultimately died of a heart attack on August 2, 1978.  Complete with original commercials.  Also includes some brief news coverage of the announcement of her death.  About 90 minutes long.   A

Leonard, Dom DeLuise, Steve Martin, Ronald Regan, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Robert Kennedy, Jimmy Carter, Burt Reynolds, Orson Wells, Jack Benny, George Burns, Carol Burnett, Michael Landon, John Wayne, Hermione Gingold, Arthur Treacher and Orson Wells (who died a few hours after his interview).  He ends the show with a preview of his next project, a show called “The Coconut Ballroom” which never got picked up.  In color. 1 hour, complete with original commercials.   A

DICK CAVETT 1 DVD THE DICK CAVETT SHOW 1980-1982 PBS-TV This disc contains 4 episodes with Jonathan Miller. Sir Jonathan Wolfe Miller  is a British theatre and opera director, actor, author, television presenter, humorist and sculptor. Trained as a physician in the late 1950s, he first came to prominence in the early 1960s with his role in the comedy revue Beyond the Fringe with fellow writers and performers Peter Cook, Dudley Moore and Alan Bennett. Despite having seen few operas and not knowing how to read music, he began stage-directing them in the 1970s and has since become one of the world's leading opera directors with several classic productions to his credit. His best-known production is probably his 1982 "Mafia"-styled Rigoletto set in 1950s Little Italy, Manhattan. In its early days he was an associate director at the Royal National Theatre and later he ran the Old Vic Theatre. He has also become a well-known television personality and familiar public intellectual in Britain and the United States of America.  About 1 hour, 20 minutes.   A
